Coach Doug Marrone defended Bortles during his news conference Wednesday and Caldwell continued to back him Thursday. The organization has provided a unified front on the former No. 3 overall pick, who appeared to regress a year ago mechanically, which caused a dip in production.
It would be a shame if Jacksonville cut Bortles. Not because he's a great quarterback, but because he is a great FANTASY quarterback. And a very inexpensive one. He's signed through 2021 in our league at $4/$5/$7/$9/$11. In 2015, Bortles was the #4 overall scorer at 394. In 2016, he was 15th at 301. And while he did regress, he's still one of the best bargains in our league. And likely, in your league, too.
