Romo Expects Cut, Not Trade.

Salute: Pro Football Talk

Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Romo is expecting to be released, not traded.

I seem to have mentioned something about this.  Nobody is going to give up players and/or picks just for the honor of picking up Romo's massive contract.  Nobody.  Thus, teams will wait.  And this is probably the best thing that could happen for Romo.  He'll get the guaranteed money Dallas owes him and he'll go to the highest bidder/best situation.

I still think Dallas is better off re-negotiating and keeping him.  It's the NFL, one weird play and Dak Prescott goes down and so does a season.  Look at what happened in Minnesota last season.  Teddy Bridgewater gets hurt, Shaun Hill isn't the answer, and Minnesota has to spend a first-rounder and a bunch of money on Sam Bradford.  Having a viable backup saves two of those moves if you're the Vikings.  And bringing in Bradford didn't even help save the season.

As good as Dak is, mark my words, there will come a time when Dallas truly regrets not having Tony Romo and his talent/experience ready to come in to save the day.
